Resumes. Instagram posts. Posters. Invitations. From personal lives to flourishing businesses, Canva is useful for anyone’s design needs.

Canva is a website that allows you to create designs for basically anything you can think of. Even if there isn’t a template like some of the ones I listed, you can start a design from scratch.

Another perk is that Canva is free (if you can live without the upgrade) which as a college student, I appreciate every single time I use it.

Canva has an endless array of possibilities that make it the perfect platform for me as a busy student, specifically when it comes to their templates.

When I’m choosing a template for a project, I always find a template I like because even if there’s a small detail I dislike about it, I can always change it to make it fit perfectly for what I’m doing. So long, Microsoft Word templates.

Another aspect of Canva that I think is often looked past about Canva is their resume templates. When people are only using Canva for their business’ social media posts or food menus, I think the resume templates can sometimes go unnoticed.

Today, it is more important than ever to have a resume that stands out from the rest and is tailored to exactly what you need it to be. The next time you decide to update your resume, consider ditching those drab resume formats and go for something fresh on Canva.

Do keep in mind that different jobs and industries will allow for more individuality or creativity when it comes to your resume, but regardless of the look you’re going for, I have found Canva resume templates to be customizable and easy to use.

Speaking of easy to use, Canva is the easiest design site I have ever used period. Just like any new design tool, Canva may take a few practice designs to get the hang of all the options you have, because they’re extensive. But after you know what your options are, you may find like I did, that Canva is easy, and their mobile browser is surprisingly user friendly too.

Personally, I have never found the need to pay for a subscription to Canva. I’ve always had all the options I wanted to for free. Besides the occasional graphic that I can’t get because I’m not paying money, I’ve never felt dissatisfied with my free version of Canva.

Canva has been a useful tool in aspects of my life including my personal life, class projects, my professional life, my internships and even my jobs. I can’t wait to see what Canva does next and see how this design tool will continue to help me.
